As an ever-reliable midfielder, Gary Dicker played over 150 times for Brighton and Hove Albion – winning promotion to the Championship under Gus Poyet.
So it was a no-brainer for the Dubliner to return to the East Sussex side in July 2021, initially as U-23s player-coach. The job would also allow him to spend more time with wife Leonie, their two daughters (Eva and Anna) and his in-laws – all based in Brighton – which made a welcome change from flying back and forth to previous employers Kilmarnock.
