If a member of the public decided to divert off the A6 and take a spin into Derry GAA’s 48-acre Owenbeg centre of excellence last Monday, their initial impression would have been that it was business as usual.

In a pitch close to the entrance, second-year students from the local school in Dungiven were taking on visitors from Clady, just one of several underage matches being played. A venue big enough to host 1,500 guests for the 2023 GAA World Games is used to throwing open the gates to teams from around the county and beyond.
